These guitars truly combine Mike’s artistic creativity and luthiery skills. All specialty instruments are hand carved and custom shaped, yet designed to be fully functional instruments, not just wall decorations. Consultation for this type of guitar includes sketchwork and choice of materials and selection of woods. Generally the bodies are basswood or alder due facilitate carving.

Featured Guitar: This piece was done to be shown with a painting displayed in the Speed Demons Exhibit at the Journey Museum, Sturgis 2005. This guitar was inspired by the whole concept of the Speed Demon – broken down into the simple elements of the skull, piston and sprokets. It was designed specifically to play. This is a very lightweight and ergonomically comfortable player. It was created with very highly figured birdseye neck and fretboard.
